June Marked National Unification Month Across Massachusetts

June 1, 2026, Children's Law Center of Massachusetts joined community partners to launch National Unification Month with Essex County's first annual Family Unification Celebration, which was held at Pathways Family Resource Center in the spirit of "Growing Together."

June is National Family Reunification Month — proclaimed by Governor Maura Healey as a time to honor families who have faced significant challenges, made meaningful changes, and worked hard to stabilize or reunify. This month recognizes that family unification depends on families, legal advocates, social workers, educators, and community partners working together.

Families came together for an afternoon of planting, bracelet making, painting, a prize wheel, swag bags, and more. The celebration's most meaningful moments came from three parents who shared their stories — a reminder of the strength and determination it takes to keep families together.

The momentum continued across the Commonwealth throughout June, with seven communities hosting their own Unification Day Celebrations as part of a growing statewide movement to honor and support families navigating the child welfare system.

At Children's Law Center of Massachusetts, family integrity is central to the work we do across our Education, Immigration, Family Integrity, and Youth Justice practice areas. Keeping families together is a shared responsibility, and this month's celebration reminds us why that work matters.

Thank you to Pathways Family Resource Center for hosting, and to the planning committee that brought this celebration to life in just a few months.
